Gesture-controlled Computers for Operating Rooms
Surgeons routinely need to review medical images and records during surgery, therefore they have to touch some bacteria such as keyboard, mouse or touch screen. Researchers from Purdue University are developing gesture-recognition systems for computers, so that surgeons can simply move their hands in the air to fast navigate and operate computer screen content. The system could additionally be used with robotic scrub nurses to interact with surgeons during the surgery. The system incorporates a Microsoft Kinect camera and specialized algorithms to recognize hand gestures.
