Graphene “paper” stronger than steel
University of Technology Sydney research team has reported "remarkable results" in the production of graphene paper, a composite material based on graphite that is as thin as paper and ten times stronger than steel. These graphene nanosheet stacks consist of monolayer hexagonal carbon lattices and are placed in laminar structures. Using a synthesized method and heat treatment, the material possess with extraordinary bending, rigidity and hardness mechanical properties, which gives it remarkable applications in automotive, aviation, electrical and optical industries. Last Step of fuel cell in your pocket
Technology using catalysts which make hydrogen from formic acid could eventually replace lithium batteries and power a host of mobile devices. Oxford University’s Department of Chemistry team are developing new catalysts which can produce hydrogen at room temperature without the need for solvents or additives. The new approach involves placing a single atomic layer of palladium atoms onto silver nanoparticles. The structural and electronic effects from the underlying silver greatly enhance the catalytic properties of palladium. This makes a hydrogen fuel cell in your pocket more close to mass production.
