Australian researchers have invented a new Printing nanotech solar cells that are thin, flexible and use only 1% the materials of conventional solar cells.
The patented technology is based on inks containing tiny, semiconducting nanocrystals, which can be printed directly onto a variety of surfaces, and become a solar cells with photoelectron conversion efficiency.The technology is not limited to solar cells. Researchers from Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne are developing a device only 4mm thick chip that can manage the power grid of a whole town and a thousand times faster than currently possible.
