EDOM Technology Announces Distributorship with AMD for Taiwan
Adding more advantages in flash memory and mobile telecommunication platform solutions
November 12, 2004, Taipei -- EDOM Technology , a professional Semiconductor distributor, today announced a distribution agreement with AMD to sell SpansionTM Flash memory products in Taiwan. This relationship will bring mutual benefits to both companies by expanding both AMD’s Flash memory business the overall size of Flash memory market in Taiwan.
In recent years, Taiwan has secured the global leadership in the development of mobile handsets and telecommunication devices. In addition to helping build the PC market in Taiwan, EDOM Technology has also been the industry leader in the field of mobile devices, telecommunication products, and consumer electronics products by providing a variety of platform solutions. Under its new agreement to sell Spansion Flash memory products from AMD in Taiwan, EDOM can further provide customers more diversified integrated services and more comprehensive platform solutions based on the current advantageous position.
Spansion is the Flash memory subsidiary of AMD (NYSE:AMD) and Fujitsu Limited (TSE:6702). The company was formed in 2003 when AMD and Fujitsu merged their Flash memory operations to create the largest NOR Flash memory provider in the world. Spansion is dedicated to developing advanced flash memory devices and enhancing its position as the NOR Flash market leader. With EDOM Technology as a key distributor of Spansion Flash memory for AMD in Taiwan, AMD can be ensured a better product deployment in the flash memory market.
The latest generation of flash memory technology introduced by Spansion is MirrorBitTM. MirrorBit technology is a comparatively simple but powerful approach to storing two bits of data in a single Flash memory cell using a fundamentally different and more versatile technology compared to other solutions. Spansion’s MirrorBit technology is versatile enough to scale to a full range of densities: from 1-Megabit serial Flash products, to the highest density NOR device on the market at 512-Megabits, to an expected 8-Gigabits by 2007. In addition, the technology is versatile enough for integrating logic functions with very high densities of Flash, as well as extending to very high burst write performance.
