NXP Sound Solutions Recognized for its Customer-centric Approach to Business by the European Foundation for Quality Management
NXP Semiconductors today announced that its Sound Solutions business, headquartered in Vienna, Austria, has received a special award for its customer focus at yesterday’s ceremony of the prestigious European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) Excellence Award. The award was presented in recognition of the organization’s track record in delivering outstanding customer satisfaction, its customer-centric approach to business, and its ability to consistently provide its customers with leading edge technologies.
NXP’s Sound Solutions business, which also qualified in 2007 for the finalist stage of the EFQM Excellence Award, is the global market and technology leader of acoustical components for mobile phones and to date has shipped over three billion units. With 30 percent share of the market, its customers currently include five of the top seven mobile handset manufacturers. In addition to its research and development and production facilities in Austria, the Sound Solutions business also has a facility in Beijing, which enables it to address the demands of the Asian markets, as well as the important OEMs and ODMs based in the region.
In total, 14 companies qualified for the final stage of the award from a diverse range of industries including further education, automotive, pharmaceutical and consultancy services. To demonstrate NXP’s business excellence leadership, the company was required to undergo rigorous judging, which also includes on-site visits and analysis of detailed questionnaires by the judging committee comprising top executives form leading businesses and public service organizations.

The winners of the EFQM Excellence Awards were announced at a gala dinner during the EFQM Forum taking place this week in Brussels, Belgium.
